The Holy Monastery of Agios Ioannis the Theologian is located above Velika, going up the mountain from the stream at "Platania". Not much information about the monastery has survived and only the catholic and a perimeter wall of the original buildings remain. The Byzantine phase of the monastery of Theologos was found higher up, on Koutzibo, but it has now been destroyed. The present church is a remarkable architectural monument of the cruciform type inscribed with a dome. It was built in 1851 and hagiographed in 1857 by Samaritan painters. It was the largest monastery in the region and had a large estate. Today it operates as a metochi of the Holy Monastery of Agios Panteleimon and there lives monk Alexios.
